What rating system does RoChess! use?
The official description says “rated” and never says Elo, Glicko-1, Glicko-2, or a K factor. The creator group is named 1 Elo Chess. That name is not a formula.
What is public
The current description says there are rated games across 9 time controls and leaderboards for Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, and Puzzles. It does not say whether each clock has its own number. Guides on rochess.online and rochess.wiki say the pools are separate, and rochess.online also says the formula, seasons, and reset rules are not public. That second part matches the official silence. The first part is still a third-party reading.
A Spanish version of this answer is on RoChess! Elo en español. The calculator runs the textbook Elo formula and is labelled as such.
What a score change can and cannot prove
| If you wrote down | You could estimate | You still could not claim |
|---|---|---|
| Your score, the opponent, and the result | An equivalent K under the classic Elo formula | That the server uses that K |
| The same result against different opponents | That a bigger gap moves the expectation | Elo versus Glicko |
| The first games on a new account | Whether early games swing more | An official provisional rule |
| Separate clocks | That people talk about separate pools | That the developer documented pools |
No public rating distribution, named ranks, or percentile table turned up. This page does not invent Pawn-to-King tiers.
What 3000 means, and what a 2800 bot video is
On the FIDE scale, 2800 is world-champion territory and the highest published rating Wikipedia cites is about 2882. 3000 is above that human list. RoChess! has not published its own distribution, so a RoChess number cannot be converted into a FIDE percentile.
One YouTube video, “I Beat Roblox's Unbeatable 2800 ELO Chess Bot,” was uploaded 14 Oct 2026 by olivesauz. It is a single community claim about one bot, not an official ladder. See bots and the snapshot on stats.
Questions
Is RoChess! Glicko-2?
No public source says that. The official text only says rated. Glicko-2 would be a guess.
Why did my rating move by a different amount?
Under classic Elo, the gap and the result change the update. RoChess! has not said it uses that formula, so the calculator is only a comparison tool.
Does each time control have its own rating?
There are four named leaderboards. Guides say the pools are separate. The official description does not spell that out line by line.
Are there named ranks?
Not in the official description. Bots are described as Beginner to Master. That is a bot ladder, not a player rank ladder.
What does 3000 Elo mean here?
In FIDE history it is above the published human peak. Inside RoChess! there is no public percentile to attach to 3000.
Where is the formula?
Not published. If a later group post or game description names it, this page should quote that post instead of inferring.
